The Barbados Accreditation Council (BAC) is a statutory body established under the Barbados Accreditation Council Act 2004. Its primary role is to assure the quality and standards of post-secondary and tertiary education in Barbados through accreditation and recognition of institutions, programs and qualifications.

The BAC works closely with educational institutions to ensure that they meet the required standards and criteria for accreditation. The council assesses and evaluates the quality and standards of the educational programs and qualifications offered by institutions and provides advice and guidance to help them improve their quality and meet the required standards.

In addition to its accreditation and recognition functions, the BAC also promotes and supports the development of post-secondary and tertiary education in Barbados. It maintains a database of accredited institutions and programs and provides guidance and support to students and graduates seeking to further their education or employment opportunities.

Its accreditation and recognition functions provide assurance to students, employers and other stakeholders that the qualifications and programs offered by accredited institutions meet the required standards for quality and excellence.
